QuickQuill Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 28, 2026
Our Privacy Principle
QuickQuill is a local-first transcription and meeting-notes app for macOS. It records and transcribes your meetings and conversations and writes summaries — and it also does push-to-talk dictation — all on your device. Your voice and your transcripts stay on your device. We do not run servers that receive your audio or text, we do not require an account, and we do not track how you use the app.
This policy explains, in plain terms, what that means.
Information We Collect
We collect no personal information. QuickQuill has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not ask for your name, email, or any identifying information to use the app.
Information We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, QuickQuill does not collect, store on our servers, or transmit to us any of the following:
- Your audio recordings or microphone input
- Your transcripts, captions, summaries, or translations
- Your custom vocabulary or settings
- Analytics, usage statistics, or behavioral tracking data
- Location data
- Contact information
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
On-Device Processing
All transcription and related processing happens locally on your device:
- Transcription runs on-device using Apple’s SpeechAnalyzer. No audio is sent to us or to any third-party transcription service.
- Live captions, translation, and summaries use Apple’s on-device frameworks (Translation and Foundation Models). They run locally and do not send your content over the network.
How Your Data Is Stored
- Dictation audio is held in memory while being transcribed and is discarded afterward. A temporary copy may be written to local disk only to recover an interrupted session after a crash; it never leaves your device.
- Capture recordings and transcripts are saved locally on your device in an app database so you can review and export them. You can delete any session at any time.
- Retention is under your control. By default, sessions are kept until you delete them; you can configure an automatic retention period (TTL) in Settings so older sessions are removed automatically.
We never receive, sync, or back up this data to our servers.
Network Connections
QuickQuill is designed to work offline. The only network connection it makes is to check for software updates, and it never includes your audio or transcripts:
- Software updates — the app periodically checks our update server to see whether a newer version is available, and downloads the update if you choose to install it. This involves a standard request that may include your IP address and app version, like any software download. We do not use it for tracking.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, because we do not collect it. Your audio and transcripts are never shared with us or with any third party.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following infrastructure, limited to the functions above:
- Cloudflare hosts our software update files. It may process standard request metadata (such as your IP address) when your app checks for or downloads an update.
These providers do not receive your audio, transcripts, or any content you create in QuickQuill.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) — including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you. Because QuickQuill stores your data only on your own device and we hold no personal data about you, you can exercise these rights directly: your transcripts and recordings are yours to view, export, or delete within the app at any time.
Children’s Privacy
QuickQuill is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and publish the updated policy. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
